Pokemon Go: The Silph Road Travelers Card

Back in January, The Silph Road introduced some nerdy little digital passports for the Pokemon Go comunity, called Traveler Cards.  You can create your card with your in-game character details, adding some personalized details such as Avatars based on your community contributions (reporting nests or research for The Silph Road), and selecting your fave 6 Pokemon.  NOTE: that this does not use a Niantic API or have any connection to your Official Pokemon Go account.

This is just a fun little passport that allows you to get badges by meeting certain Pokemon Go players (such as PoGo youtubers like PkmnMasterHolly), or attending PoGo events like Community Day or Go Fest.  You can also “ShakeHands” with other travelers that you meet and it adds them to your Network.  For those reasons, there is a requirement of being 16 to have a Traveler Card.

All in all, its a neat bit of nerdiness.  It sounds a bit complicated, but its easy to setup your Traveler Card.

Selecting your region may be a bit confusing, you will most likely be in a big green empty map (in the middle of the ocean),  just click the GPS button (red Arrow in picture) then find your Home City.   Don’t narrow it down to your house, it is just looking for  a City, or in the case of a big metro area, pick a common community area in your area, like a park.

Now your get to set up your details!  You can link your Discord/Reddit/Telegram if you wish. Discord or Telegram link is required for the community interaction aspects of the Traveler card (badges, handshakes).
